There will be no weekend practices for the month of December.  The we need to wait until all students have registered before we determine who is able to practice the weekend tech events.  As the registration is not due until December 22nd we will wait until the new year to start practices.  Thank you for your patience.

Permission Slip

When a student signs up for Science Olympiad online we need just one additional piece of paper.  Each year the tournaments ask us for a parent permission slip to show that the students have permission to travel with us.  In order to cover our bases in advance, we ask everyone to fill this form out and return at the beginning of the year.

If you have not turned in a permission slip, please click the link below, print and fill out the form and return as soon as possible.

Science Olympiad Event Practices Begin Tomorrow!

The official 2018 Science Olympiad season begins tomorrow, Thursday, December 14th!  We are super excited to get to know this years group of Super Scientists!  We will meet Thursday and Friday this week and Monday thru Wednesday next week.  There will be no weekend practices on the weekends until after Winter Break.  We also will not be meeting next week Thursday, Dec. 21st or Friday, Dec. 22nd as we all get ready for Winter Break.  These practices are a way of getting to know your event coaches and gather information to begin working on your events over break.  We will start again right away on January 3rd, the first day back in the new year.

The event calendar has been updated, so please check it out and notice the new room numbers for the event practices.  The room number listed is preceded by the abbreviation for the school where the event meets.  Also notice that the practice times for both Meteorology and Fast Facts have been updated, we are just waiting on Thermodynamics.

If you are waiting for a practice, please note that the study room at Lakeshore will be Room 354 (Mr. Mihalek’s Room) and Room 201 at White Pines (Mrs. Bird’s Room).  Please make sure that you report to those rooms while you wait instead of roaming the halls between practices.

Also as a reminder, if you have not signed up on the online form, please do so prior to December 22nd.  We need to have attendance lists updated prior to starting practice in January.  The $85.00 participation fee and permission slip may be returned to Mr. Mihalek and Mrs. Bird as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Mihalek (mihalekn@ghaps.org) or Mrs. Bird (birdr@ghaps.org).

See you soon!
